We have a lovely activity for the kids today all about CVC and literacy for your reception aged kids. CVC stands for consontant vowel consonant and is designed to teach your kids to blend sounds together. Our worksheets go through an array of combinations and do so in a fun cut, sort, and arrange type of activity.
If you want your kids to begin working on different sound combinations to better their reading then this worksheet is great for you. This is a worksheet for reception but you can use it at any time within your child’s learning to have them either learn new sounds or help them practice.
What does this reception working activities entail? You will get 17 sheets with the CVC words for the kids to cut, sort, and arrange.
Here are the instructions for the activity;
- Print sheets 3-20 on white card stock,
- Cut out the main graphic square, the letter rectangles, and the word rectangles.
- Pick a CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant)word family sheet and place it on your mat,
- Encourage your child to place a letter in a sign held by a child and the corresponding completed word in the yellow stage.
This is a great activity to reinforce a child’s understanding with 17 CVC word family groups. Laminate the sheets for durability, especially if you will be using this activity in group settings.
We know that whether you use these reception worksheets at home, in the homeschool setting or just for fun that your kids and your family will enjoy themselves and learn in the process. You can also use this in the classroom as it’s a perfect activity for a group of kids or for the entire classroom to work through together. The worksheets can be done together in groups of 2 or larger groups as well, it’s all up to you.
